• What constitutes a sufficient backup?
• Does it cover cloud-based assets?
• Will your business survive a Ransomware attack - or could your backups be encrypted or deleted by a hacker too?
• Are your backups even working - how do you know?
• How long would it take for your business to recover from a complete loss of systems? Seconds? Minutes? Hours? Days? Weeks? Never?
• What is an acceptable risk profile for your business to accept?
• If one of your team deleted or modified a critical document, and you didn’t find out for months - could you recover it or has it already been overwritten by other backups?
• Does your data retention policy meet legislative requirements?
• Are your backups stored in a geographically diverse location?

It is wise to develop a disaster recovery plan in consultation with someone who understands your obligations under law and your acceptable-risk profile, whilst also sensitive to the practicalities of cost and complexity.
